Hi

If I enable 2FA on my dropbox account how does this effect current users I have given access to some shared folders?

Will they still have access or will they need to also enable 2FA?

Thanks

Hi Gary, enabling 2FA only affects your account when you login to it.

It doesn’t affect users who are members of your shared folders, since they would technically be different accounts.

Hope this helps to clarify matters!

Hi,

Please help me understand the security of shared files and folders from a 2FA-enabled source account (mine) and an account without 2FA, both with a link to and an invitation via email from Dropbox source account to the invited person.

Specifically, a client with whom I have shared, using a hyperlink to one document AND inviting to a higher level folder, told me that the hyperlink takes them directly to the document with no security.  Perhaps that is because their computer is a trusted device, and thus bypasses login requirements (first level security).  What they and I would like to have happen is that they - and anyone else with that document's / folder's hyperlink - must complete a security step in order to access the document/folder.

How can I as the administrator of the source Dropbox folder assure downstream security?  What my I / they do in order to protect documents and folders on DB?

Thank you,

Walter

Hi @tbbalfe; thanks for joining our Community!

I'm not sure if this will do the trick for you, but the closest I can think about your use-case is our shared links feature which can be password protected if needed.

For context, Dropbox Professional and Business customers can add a password (or an expiry date and/or even disable downloads) to a shared link on dropbox.com or on the Dropbox mobile app. When someone opens the link, they'll need the password to see its contents.
