Calculations in Paper using Latex?

Explorer | Level 4

I am new to Latex, but was doing some note taking and thought it would be nice to do calculations right in the paper, so I did some digging around te web and found that this should work, but it doesnt

This:

$$2+3=\result$$

Results is:

2+3=\result

Is it possible to do simple calculations using Latex?

Super User

It is not possible to do simple calculations in the Paper's LaTeX. You can only write math expressions and that's pretty much it. In fact, simple calculations are not simply calculated even if you are using fully functional LaTeX editor. You will need additional packages (like fp) and define new commands.
