Can only share folder with link

Can only share folder with link

Hello,

I am trying to share a folder but dropbox tells me that I can only share this folder using a link. The folder contains other folders that were shared. Despite the fact that I unshared all of them, I am still unable to web share the folder. I also tried to create a new folder, share that folder, then drag and drop the folders that I want to share, but dropbox indicated that the following folders cannot be moved to that location.

What should I do?

Thank you

Hey there @lo6 - how are you today?

From what I understand you are trying to share a folder that contains other shared folders. Can you browse the content of the folder you are trying to share and see if there's any subfolder left there with the little two people icon on them?

One way to by-pass this would be to move/copy the contents of the original folder you'd like to share in a new folder and then share this folder anew.

I hope this points you to the right direction and please let me know what you find. Thanks!

I have about 100 sub folders, none of which have a "shared folder" indication.   Do I have to go into each of those sub folders to find the folder which has something in it that is shared?

Yes. Either one of the subfolders is shared, or the folder that you're trying to share is within a folder that is already shared.

Remember, it's not enough to just remove the members of any share you find. You have to unshare the folder entirely. Even with all members removed, the folder is still shared with you as the only member.

Why does this limitation exist?   I don't get it.   I should be able to share what ever I want with whomever I want.
