Re: Can't set password for shared folder

Can't set password for shared folder

Hi, I can't seem to set a password for shared folder.  The instructions say "Next to Link access, select Only people with the password from the dropdown menu."  I don't see this option or it is greyed out.  It says this is for "Dropbox Professional and Business customers".  I am a "Dropbox Business Advanced" member, see below.  Does that qualify?

Hey @Andy27,

Have you tried deleting the shared link and creating a new one as the message in the screenshot prompts? If a setting was applied previously to restrict access to shared links and then removed at a later date, then you would need to recreate the link to "remove" that setting.

Let me know how it goes - Thanks!

Hey there @Andy27,

You'll need to click the option "Folder settings" in the top left of the window shown in your first screenshot, and you'll need to toggle off the option for "Link restrictions". The folder seems to have been restricted from sharing links outside of the team.

If you're not able to change this setting yourself, then you may need to contact the team admin to change this for you, as the setting can be applied to individual folders or the account as a whole.

I hope that helps - Thanks!
