Do I need to re-apply "Online only" mode to the files in a Smart Synced folder?

Hello Jane / Dropbox support!

I know we can set a folder to "Online only" and it will essentially free up the space being used by those files, by removing them from local storage.

...But is there a way to flag a folder as online only, so that any new files added to it on the local computer, will upload to dropbox, and then clear themselves from local storage also? Or will the "online" setting need to be re-applied to that folder / files within it each time files are locally added?

Hi @ryan_gcits.

Happy to answer all your Smart Sync questions!

When a folder is already set to "Online only" and your default mode for Smart Sync in your desktop application "Preferences" is "Online Only" then you don't need to take any extra steps. 👍

[EDIT/ Carification]Any files added from the web or from other people to this folder, will automatically show as "Online only", if you choose to add the files from your desktop, multiply select these files and right click > Smart Sync > "Online only".
