DropBox Smart Sync understanding

I have done a bit of research, but unfortunately, I am finding conflicting results. 

I am using the DB app on a Mac, and we have a professional account and am using SmartSync.

From my understanding, from reading through the answers in this forum, there is a combination of both local storage and online storage, and the smart sync option allows for automatic syncing to the cloud for all team members to view. 

I would prefer to not store any files on my computer, and when looking at my storage, I have around 70GB of files on my local drive, that, I have selected to be an Online-Only in Smart Sync, and shows the little cloud beside the folder. I also have not opened any of the files that are supposedly stored on my computer, so I am wondering why these files are stored on my local drive taking up hard drive space. Its not an insigficant amount of space.

Hey @TJTOWNS, I’d happily clarify matters! 
 

For starters, could you include the thread/threads you referenced in your next message? 

Following, you should be able to modify the Dropbox settings both on the device-level & file/folder-level and anything stored within Dropbox should be mirrored on all participants’ views as long as it’s synced correctly.

If you’d like to confirm whether these files are indeed taking up space locally, you’d have to check at the User Info. If you need further assistance, I'd appreciate a screenshot (omitting personal info) in your next message showing me what you’re seeing in the User Info on an example file/folder.
