Dropbox download seems to freeze, then progresses very slowly

Hay, I'm downloading from a Shared folder. I downloaded on Windows 10 (Firefox) and RHEL (Firefox browser) When I try to download the files -

1) I get VERY slow speeds, I have gigabit internet but files download at 1-3mbps, sometimes even 200kbps.

2) Downloads fail quite often, and need to be baby-sitted to completion, i.e in case one download fails, it has to be manually kept for retrying.

3) Even when it is downloading, the progress bar seems to "freeze" up, meaning the speed and size remaining doesn't change for quite a while, then start downloading normally for some time before freezing again.

Also, the folder shared to me is from an enterprise account, so can't use a personal free dropbox account to sync the files (they are bigger than 2 GB each).

I'm just tired of baby sitting the download, is there anything I can do?

I'd be more than happy to help look into this, I'll just need a few more details to make sure that I have a better understanding as to what you're seeing. For example:

  • Have you tried downloading the files from another browser or an incognito window?
  • Did you cleared the browser's cache before downloading the items?
  • How large are the files you're trying to download?
  • Are you getting any specific error messages when it fails?

Any additional info and screenshots (without any personal info) would be very helpful. Thanks!

1) I've tried using an incognito window, got the same results, not yet tested with Chrome (that's the only alternative now)

2) Yes, no change in speed behaviour

3) around 4GB

4) No error messages, it just fails downloading.

I want to know if I can sync an enterprise folder using my free account? The file sizes are greater than 2 GB (around 4 GB), but I believe sync would be a better option to download files.

Thanks for checking those out for me, @kvn95ss

In general, to add a shared folder to your account, you need to have the relevant space available. You can check out how much storage you have in your Plan tab

As for the downloads, do give another browser a shot, and if you're still having trouble, I'd be more than happy to send you a ticket to have a better look into this.
