Dropbox fails to sync when connected through VPN (private internet access)

As the title suggests Dropbox fails to sync whenever I activate my VPN. 

I'm running the latest version of Dropbox on OS X El Capitan.

Hi Tom

Depending on how your VPN is routed, Dropbox could be blocked by whatever service you are using. You should be able to whitelist Dropbox. If it's routing through a proxy, make sure you adjust your settings as well: https://www.dropbox.com/help/21

Tom, I just did a Google search and found your post. I'm having the same exact issue, same VPN provider, same OS X. Did you find out any additional information?

I'm having this same issue.  Same VPN provider, same OS X.  Only started happening when I upgraded to El Capitan.

 

Edit:  I just engaged in online chat with PIA VPN customer support.  They were aware of the issue and had issued an update.  You can redownload the installer at their website.  You will have to press CTRL+left click to open the installer due to El Capitan's new security settings.  This will allow you to do a fresh install and then it all works!  slightly smiling face
