Dropbox prevents file locking in OSX (NOT a business account or shared folder)

My dropbox account is personal, and I'm not sharing folders with anyone. 

When dropbox is running, if I try to lock a file using OSX, the lock icon briefly appears on the file, but then disappears. It's impossible to lock a file. I've confirmed this is a Dropbox issue, because I can lock files outside of Dropbox folders and if I quit Dropbox, then I can lock files in Dropbox folders. 

This is a problem for me.

Hi @Ben S.4, I'd be more than happy to look into this with you!

As a first step, could you check which version of the desktop app you're running and what its status is by hovering over your Dropbox icon? 

A screenshot (without personal info) of this would be very helpful. Thanks!

That's perfect, thanks for the screenshot, @Ben S.4!

I can see from the image you attached that you're on the beta version of the desktop app. Could you try installing the stable version of it, and see if that does the trick? 

Please remember that you'll have to uncheck the option to "Include me in early releases" in your General settings on the website before installing the desktop app

I am now on the standard version (off the beta treadmill), and also on Catalina. No change in Dropbox behavior about locking files.
