Files on dropbox not opening but open when copied to desktop

hello,

I have many folders in my dropbox folder (we have a work account so all our projects are linked together through dropbox) which are fine, it is specifically this one folder that i have just made recently and all of its subfolders that this issue relates to... i can only open random files with the subfolders 

however when i copy the folder and files from dropbox to my desktop i can open and load them. e.g. a pdf.

whats up with that? is it a folder permission or something?

I can even open the files through my internet browser and by going into my dropbox but i still cannot open them directly through windows explorer...

You haven't provided enough information about the problem to be able to determine the cause. What happens when you try to open the files? Do you get an error message? Can you provide a screenshot (omitting personal information)?

Hi, thanks for your replies..

When i clicked on a file it wouldnt open, it would boot but then crash and close the window e.g. adobe acrobat or microsoft word. 

i ended up just copying the folder to my desktop and working on it from there... so no dramas.

Thanks for circling back to us with this update @SimonBloomberg! I understand that you’ve now managed to have this temporarily squared away (which is great news indeed) by copying the files away from the Dropbox folder, however I’d just like to offer my assistance in case you wish to work towards a permanent fix. 
 
Since you should be able to edit your files in Dropbox in the same way as your local files, please let me know here if you’d like to further address that & I’ll make sure to reach out to you on my end via email. Thanks again!
