How can I check if uploaded files are syncing regularly?

Explorer | Level 4

I use Dropbox for Business and I have the app installed on my computer.  However, being a  user with numerous clients, I have the requirement to have some client files on Dropbox for sharing purposes but they are not related to my 'Dropbox'.  I have been logging into the browser and uploading the files required for sharing with this particular group, so these files are not on my computer and therefore not syncing this way.

How can I ensure that the shared folders with this group are being updated/synced regularly and that I can see all that is required?

Thank you.

Hi there, how are you uploading the files to this group of people?

Is it via a shared folder in a Dropbox account? Are you using a URL from a file request to upload files directly to their Dropbox account?

Any details you can provide would be great!

Re: Syncing

Hi Jay,

I have uploaded my files by dragging and dropping into my online dropbox to specific folders.  I have then shared that folder.  For example, I have created a folder called Secretary and shared this folder with the groups Secretary.  She has then put files in this folder.

I am wanting to be able to know that all files are synced (not just sitting on her computer).  With the change of office bearers each season, I need to be able to ensure the new Secretary has access to these same files.  I imagine I need to 'remove' the shared link from the outgoing person, and create a new 'share' for the incoming Secretary (if the email address changes).

Is it better to share via a link?

Thanks Jay.

You can check if files are syncing by seeing if there’s any new events in that shared folder by selecting the folder and then clicking Events on the right.

Of course, if the person isn’t moving files into that folder, there’s no easy way to check this aside from physically going to their machine and moving them yourself.

Secondly, if the email address is the new secretary changes, you can simply add their email to the ‘Secretary’ group and remove the old email of the secretary. This would grant them the same access as before.

Sharing as a link would prevent them from editing, adding or deleting files from that folder.

Let me know if this helps!
