How can I make smart synced online only files local instead?

Explorer | Level 3

I use dropbox for business.  Just recently a range of my folders are showing with a white icon with a green outline and green tick.  I understand this is a mixed folder with locally stored files and online only files.  This may have occurred when I had some sync problems and therefore some items were smart synced.  I want to change these online only files to locally stored files as I need to work with them.  I am on a Mac OS10.13.6.

Thanks

Re: Online Only files - I want to move the to Local Files

Hi there @Katyp, I hope you're having a good day so far!

To make those files local, you can right click the folder showing the mixed state sync icon and choose "Smart sync - Local". The app will then sync the files locally.

You can do this for any folder or file(s) within your Dropbox folder, just select the ones you want to change and use the right click menu.

Otherwise, double clicking "Online only" files (with the grey cloud icon) will try to open the file, which forces it to be synced locally automatically so it can be opened.

You can check out this article here for some more tips and tricks, along with some more info on how to change the default for how your new files should sync.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
