How to make a file read only when it is in use?

Hi

Is there any way to make a file read only when it is in use by another user? I do not want dropbox make two different versions of one file!

Hey @Patriot, I am afraid currently there isn't a feature that lets us lock files read-only while editing. Howerver, there is Dropbox badge which works wth Microsoft Office files (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel files) only. It lets you know when others open, edit, or update a shared file.
