I have a Smart Sync question. Any ideas?

New member | Level 2

Smart Sync works fine for me - but I'd really like it so that when I add files/folders to a folder that's already 'Smart Sync'd' the new stuff is automatically Smart Sync'd and I don't have to go in every time, right click etc etc (first world problem, I know). Is this possible? Has anyone made this happen? If not is there any chance the Dropbox folk will add this as a feature?

Grateful for any thoughts, ideas, etc

Ian

Re: Smart Sync

Dropboxer

Hi Ian, welcome to the Community!

Can you please let me know if you've tried switching your default sync setting to Online Only through the desktop app's preferences?

Just make sure to choose the Online-only setting and new files/folders added to your account on dropbox.com will display in your Dropbox folder on your computer, but will be online-only.

Let me know how it goes @Ian C.29

Hi - yes, done that, but when a new folder is added from outside Dropbox to an online only folder the new stuff stays as local and has to be manually updated.  Maybe it's because I've recently upgraded my iMac's OS to Catalina 10.15. I guess I'll wait for an upgrade or two (to both macOS and Dropbox) and see if all's well then.

Many thanks

Ian
