Is there a way to delete files only for me in a shared folder?

New member | Level 2

I have a folder that is shared with me that takes up a lot of memory. Is there a way to delete specific files from the folder say after I download them to free up space (that become deleted just for me) while still having the folder remain shared with me so I continue to receive new files uploaded to the folder in the future?

Hi @mnmman, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

If you have editing permissions for a shared folder, you can delete files but they will be removed for other members as well.

What you can do is ask the owner of the shared folder to send you a shared link to the folder, which gives you view-only access and doesn't take up space in your account.

Once you have the shared link, you can remove the shared folder from your account.

Hope this helps!
