Linux Dropbox: v88.4.172 syncing problems

Hi,

My Linux Dropbox client has updated to v88.4.172 in the last 48/72 hours and it gets stuck when syncing files, particularly ones that are being changed whilst dropbox is trying to sync. Instead of a "Can't sync xxxx (file is in use)", the file is synced, and then the client does no further syncing on that file.

Over the weekend, I unlinked the Dropbox and relinked (causing Dropbox to move the original Dropbox files to a different directory, and download the rest), but there is still this issue when files are being updated.

Is this an issue with v88.4.172 on Linux that anyone else has had? I do note that my iMac and my Windows 10 clients don't have this issue.

Hi @Graeme T.1 - welcome to our Community and happy Monday!

I haven't seen any similar report lately; I'll be glad to help look into this now so let's get started. 

Can you send me the exact status of the app by running the 'status' command while your prompt is located at the root (top level) of the Dropbox folder? 

If you have a desktop environment that supports the tray icon, feel free to send a screenshot so I can have a look too.

I have gone straight to support and done a full reinstall (removing all traces of Dropbox via

dropbox stop
dropbox status # Should report "not running"
rm -rf ~/.dropbox-dist
rm -rf /var/lib/dropbox
rm -rf ~/.dropbox*
sudo apt-get remove nautilus-dropbox
sudo apt-get remove dropbox
rm /etc/apt/source.d/dropbox

then reintalling from dropbox.com/install

I will see if that fixes the issue.

This doesn't appear to have solved all the issues- it appears it gets stuck with files >2GB. The client says 'up to date' but files aren't in it which are synced to other clients and can be seen in the account online.

Support seems intermittent here at the moment. Similar sync issues here. Bugs to be worked out with this build i hope

Hi Walter,

Please, feel free to go ahead. I can work round it temporarily, but this is an issue when I generate large files and need them syncing to/from that machine.
