Overwrite local files with online copy

Explorer | Level 4

I've made changes to the dropbox folder on my pc, with the dropbox app off so it won't overwrite the files in the cloud.

However now I would like to revert those changes by going online and downloading the folder from the cloud. I cannot download it manually since it's a big folder (over 1 million files).

Is it possible to make dropbox to download (and overwrite files) in my pc folder instead of uploading them to the cloud?

Hi @yakuzza - how are you today?

Since the folder you'd like to download to avoid conflicted copies is so big, I'd suggest letting the app run and sync your changes until it shows up to date.

From there, you should be able to use our Rewind feature to revert this folder back to its state in a previous point in time.

Another way to do this would be to unlink your account from the desktop app and then re-link it to force it to rebuild your database from our servers (and not locally which is what you're trying to avoid here) but I'd be cautious with such a large amount of files.

In any case, please keep me posted!

Thanks for your help, Walter!

The best solution for me was unlinking my account and re-downloading the folder.
