Removing myself from individual files in a shared folder

New member | Level 2

I've been added to a shared corporate Dropbox, but the files they are sharing with me put me over my personal Dropbox space.

I don't need forever access to all the files, but do need access to the shared folder as new files are added.

How do I remove access to individual files in that folder once I'm done with them so my Dropbox doesn't get pushed over the limit?

Thanks for reaching out to us here @rr13!

If the folder itself has been shared with you, I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to remove your access to individual files. This is due to inheriting access to the contents of the folder that's shared with you.

Do you need to be able to edit the contents of the folder so that the edits update for the other shared folder members? If so, I can only suggest that either the team shares a smaller subfolder with you, or to increase the storage of your account by earning extra space or upgrading your account.

If you only need to be able to view/download the files, then you can request that the folder is shared with you with a shared link instead.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions as I'd be more than happy to help.

Thanks!
