Share Link button disappeared

I have dropbox PC (Windows)

I used to be able to do this:

1. Go to Windows Explorer

2. Right-mouse-click a file inside dropbox

3. Click "Share Link" (was it "Copy Link"? Anyways, it does something like that) button

It was very useful. And the best part was that, even if I overwrite the file, the link is still the same, so that I don't need to revise the link I wrote somewhere else.

But now I have to get the link from dropbox online, and then I realized that, after I overwrite the file, the link changes!

How can I go back to what I used to have?

Hi @Socurious, welcome back to the Community!

I understand you are no longer seeing the Shared link menu option on your locally synced files.

Could you hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray near the clock/battery, and let me know the app version running and the sync status?

Does reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application help?

In regards to the link, is there any chance you are editing a duplicate file, or that the original link was deleted? If you could test this out by creating a new file and shared link, and then editing it, that would be very helpful.

Let me know what you find!

Thanks.

89.4.278 is the version.

I can't just try reinstalling dropbox it will take a tremendous amount of time.

Also the button does not appear for ANY file.

Do any of the Dropbox options appear on the context menu? Or is it only Copy Dropbox Link that's missing? If none appear, is the Dropbox application running? Those options only appear when Dropbox is running.

Thanks for getting back to me, @Socurious!

No need to do a complete reinstall; by accessing dropbox.com/install you can install the newest version and the updates will simply 'layer over' the existing one.

As Rich mentioned, let us know if you are missing all Dropbox menu options, or just the link one.

We can then take it from there.

Thanks!
