I might have the same/similar problem. I just started Smart Sync this morning because I wanted to move ONE folder online only. Before starting Smart Sync everything was fine. After that, every single file on my Dropbox folder has been reindexed and it still is reindexing AND draining my space slowly. 

What am I supposed to do now?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to dropbox and chose it over iCloud (due to Dropbox allowing your to pay annually). I've had this issue as well after copying nearly 200GB of documents over. I noticed that after I converted my files to online only, my local storage haven't changed. BUT, if I close the dropbox folder and check the local storage again, I no longer have that issue with the amound of space anymore. I don't know whether that's some kind of bug or not.

Do you sign out of Dropbox online and back in?

Hi @Joan P.6,

I'm referring to the root local Dropbox folder on my Mac.

Hey @Jane ... I see a lot of mov ing the conversation to private messages so that they can be handed to a team of specialists but the issue seems to continue without end.

 

Care to share with the group what you guys are doing over there with teh broken smartsync feature?

I have received SIXTY SEVEN notifications aboout this issue now, since I first posted, and we seem to be no closer to having the problem resolved. There are over FIVE HUNDRED comments! Why is this classed as 'Solved!' when it clearly isn't? Will Dropbox be providing compensation for selling a service that clearly doesn't work or do we as users have to take legal action?
