Hey there @PeterThillemann - funny thing what you mention!

Do you happen to have any symlinks? If so, please remove them so you can continue syncing without such issues.

If the issue persists, please send me a screenshot of what the app shows when you mouse over your Dropbox icon (in your system tray/menu bar).

Thanks!

Hi Walter

I run the command [find ~/Dropbox -type l -exec ls -lah {} \;] in the Terminal, but nothing changed.

I’ve reinstalled the Dropbox desktop App and still the same. I can’t see the smartSynch icons and the CPU is working overtime.

Would it be possible to deactivate my account and reconnect again somehow? You know the good old way of rebooting systems 🙂

Please find screenshots from my desktop app as pdf from this link: http://entrycph.dk/sandkasse/Dropbox/screenshots.pdf

Sorry to hear this persists @PeterThillemann.

I still think there are some symlinks involved as your computer's CPU is spiking as you mentioned, yet if you'd like to unlink your computer so you can then re-link it and let it index all of your files anew, take a look at this Help Center article which has a detailed guide on how to do so.

An additional note on this:

By default, the Dropbox folder is located in "~/Dropbox". If you have a Dropbox Business account, the default location for the business Dropbox folder is ~/Dropbox {team name}.

To search the business Dropbox folder you should replace ~/Dropbox with the full pathway to the Dropbox folder within quotation marks. You should do the same if you moved the Dropbox folder to a location other than the default location. See the following example pathway:

find "users/Michael/Documents/Dropbox (Enterprise)" -type l -exec ls -lah {} \;

I hope this information helps and please keep me posted on your progress Peter. Oh and happy Monday!

Hi,

I’ve now disconnected to the device and reconnected it.

The result is a warning saying something like “your dropbox folder has over 300.000 files it will take a long time to synchronise we’’ reccomand to keep the folders online. Which is exactly what I want. (just like icloud).

But now all the files is marked with minus sign and it is still not possible to smart synch the folders! If I upload a test file in the root it’s working see test_dropbox.txt but when I upload files into a folder with a minus I can’t see or use smart synch!

So now I activated selective Sync, which I think was big mistake.

I don’t get 😞
