Syncing a folder from another dropbox account

Explorer | Level 4

I saved to my dropbox a folder from another dropbox account. News files were added to this folder, but the folder in my dropbox not changed. Is there a way to sync automatically folders we saved to our dropbox?

Hey @sebduv, thanks for reaching out to us - let's see what we can find.

As a first step, could you let me know the following:

  • Which app are you having trouble seeing the files from? The website, the desktop app, or the mobile app?
  • Are you referring to a private or shared folder? You can see if a folder is shared as the folder icon will also have two people on it.Shared folders.png

Any additional info would be very helpful. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.

A friend gave me a link of a folder and I saved it to my dropbox. He frequently adds new files to this folder, but the only way to see them is to go to the first link. The folder in my dropbox is not a shared folder, and I just see files when I saved the folder in my dropbox. I hope it is clear for you!

Ah, I see! In this case, the folder you're seeing is a copy of the one the other user is updating.

In other words, what you've got saved in your account is a snapshot of the folder at the point in time that you saved/downloaded it.

You are also right about the fact that you'll have to open the shared link every time you want to see any updates to the folder.

If you've got enough space to add the actual folder to your account, I'd recommend asking the other user to send it to you as a shared folder

Let me know if you have any other questions, @sebduv!
