Syncing only with business plan?

Do I have to have a business plan with Dropbox in order to use the syncing function? My boss and I started sharing a DB folder, at the same time started a business trial. The trial has ended, any changes I make to the files in the shared folder, do not sync anymore, but everything my boss adds or changes to the folder will sync on my computer! How can that be. Cause he does not have a business plan with DB either.

Syncing is a core Dropbox feature that helps users on all plans be up-to-date across the website and connected devices
However, since you mention that you were on a Business trial which ended, it’s very likely that your team ended up in locked state.
If you’re the team admin, you can either upgrade your subscription or disband the team
More information
More specifically:
  • Upgrading your plan to Dropbox Business: You’ll need to re-invite any members who may have left your team while it was in locked state and then those members will have to accept your invitation in order to rejoin.
  • Disband the team: All team member accounts become individual Dropbox accounts and team admins receive a copy of all team content. Any team member who is not a team admin loses access to the team content but keep access to their own files and folders.
