Why do recipients of my shared folder get a message that they don't have space in their account?

New member | Level 2

I had upgraded my basic plan to the 2GB plan. I have some files stored in my drop box account which I'm sharing with my friends. But now they are getting messages that there is no space on their dropbox account. Why is that?

Hey there @Sunil4,

So I’m guessing that since you mentioned upgrading your account that you’re referring to the Dropbox Plus subscription with 2 TB of space, is that right?

If you are sharing folders with other Dropbox users, then they also need space in their account to be able to accept the shared folder. If you want to share the folder with others so that they can view and download the content if needed, then you can share with a shared link instead as this doesn’t count towards your account quota.

I hope this helps to clarify the matter, let me know if you have any other questions - Thanks!
