Hey Beckett, quick-fire answer: Yes, → Because Dropbox ensures that your files sync across devices, the same applies to file deletions, as these perceived as file edits on our end.

I hope that this helps you clarify matters to a certain extent & please feel free to ping me here if you have more questions or thoughts. Thanks for choosing Dropbox & have a wonderful rest of your day ahead!

Just to clarify a bit, if you're deleting photos from the camera roll or gallery on a mobile device, then no, those deletions will NOT sync across devices. Dropbox only syncs changes within the Dropbox folder on your computers, changes made on the Dropbox website and changes made within the Dropbox app on mobile devices. It doesn't sync the camera roll or gallery on mobile devices.

Thanks for keeping us updated on your findings Beckett, I’m wondering if the file re-appears after you’ve removed it. If it’s not too much trouble for you, can you cross-check for me if there’s a device running an application which is using the content that’s re-appearing if that’s the case? Alternatively, if you’re seeing a shared file or folder reappear after deletion, it may be that a person you shared it with is accessing it.

To check back on whether any of my pointers applies, you can look at the Version History of some example file names (tip: it’s on the on the 💬 of the file in question) in the folder that will point you towards the device or application that last accessed the files in the share/ plain folder.

If you check the previous versions of the file and see that it was accessed from an application on another computer, you can delete it off of that computer to stop it from reappearing in your Dropbox.

Please do let me know how you get on with my hints on this discussion & I’ll do my best to check back with you. Thanks again & I'll be awaiting your next post!
