Zip files download but wont open

Explorer | Level 3

We have mac s with 10.6.8, 10.9 and 10.10 systems and suddenly on the 10.6.8 and the 10.10 ones the zip files downloaded from dropbox are giving us this message and wont open "unable to unarchive Error 1- Operation not permitted." The 10.9 still works. We can now only download individual files just not folders that zip. How can we get around this?

Re: Zip files download but wont open

Hi there @sandymag

Welcome to the Dropbox Community!

In general, this error may refer to your Home directory being "locked". In this case, you can try the following:

  • Right-click on your Home folder /Users/{your username}
  • Choose Get Info.
  • Uncheck the "Locked" checkbox.

If you have intentionally locked any folders in your Home folder, this will unlock them, so you can re-lock them again afterwards.

Let me know if this helps!
