Re: mp3 URL ending with mp3

mp3 URL ending with mp3

I'm having problems with new uploaded mp3's in DROPBOX. The URL-link does not end with mp3 but with al lot of letters. For example: https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/Helium%20II.mp3?_subject_uid=4132772&w=AADPqjyfobkczUY3HNwyx-sq4-jl_P...
This link does not work when I try to embed on in my (CARGO) website. How do I get a DROPBOX URL link ending with mp3?

?raw=1 will allow an mp3 file to play directly.

Click on "SHARE' next to the file name and copy that link - now paste that link (it will contain the name of the file). You can cut off the "?dl=0"
at the end of the link.

Thank you Rick! I've tried the share-link but I get 'error could not read file' in my player on my website. That link is a link to the file, but does not PLAY the file. The playing file is the long one with all the letters and numbers. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance! Chris

To play the ORIGINAL file do not use the web page, but either download the file or activate it from your dropbox folder (on your hard drive).

is what the link should resemble. But for your purpose you would change the "dl=0" to "dl=1" for your bowser but that would mean a delay while the download occurred. DB is probably not going to work for your website.

AI U, reading the article you mention above, will ?raw=1 continue to work after these dates below? It's still working today (for dropbox basic user), so I assume what is discussed about html rendering won't affect this parameter?

"For our advanced users:

Dropbox Basic (free) users: Beginning October 3, 2016, you can no longer use shared links to render HTML content in a web browser. If you created a website that directly displays HTML content from your Dropbox, it will no longer render in the browser. The HTML content itself will still remain in your Dropbox and can be shared. Learn more.

Dropbox Pro and Business users: Beginning September 1, 2017, you can no longer render HTML content."

This is correct Dan. Rendering HTML is no longer available. If you want to play mp3 from the web I'd recommend using other sites that are specialized in mp3 streaming.

By the word 'play' I assume you mean what we used to call 'preview'. Yes?
