I just setup dropbox on a new mac running the latest MacOS Majave 10.14.
Under the Mac Notification Settings, i see two seperate options to change how i want the dropbox notification settings to appear.
Please see attached.

Re-installing Dropbox App fixed the problem for me on macOS.
After uninstalling, restarting system, installing, restarting system i am still getting double notification options in the system settings...
Do you have any other ideas on what is causing this issue?

Same problem after advanced reinstall.
When you reinstall Dropbox you get two entries in the notification center. One with "Alerts" and the other with "Banners".

i Have the same problem, tried the advanced reinstall, i think is a bug
I have the same issue on a brand-new Mac that came with Mojave installed, so I don't think it has to do with upgrade remnants. I also have the same with Google Chrome. In both cases, one is "alerts" and the other is "banners".
