Drop Box Importing Unwanted files/photos

Level 2

Just upgraded to dropbox plus.  a syncing process (that is what it is labeled) started from an unknown source (assume it is one of the individuals in the group I am in).  1,000s of photos are being synced (not sure what that means), but it indicates days of syncing will occur.  How do I stop this and how do I delete what has been synced (it appears they are personal photos from this person and most have nothing to do with the group).

Hey @um21,

Are you by any chance referring to camera uploads? If so, have a look at this article on how to tackle this.

If not, could you please provide me with some additional info so as to have a better understanding of what you’re seeing, as well as sending me a screenshot (omitting personal info) of what your Dropbox icon reads when you hover over it?

Thanks in advance!

Is this from a shared folder that you're a member of? If so, you can use Selective Sync to remove the folder or subfolder from your local drive so it doesn't sync anymore, but you'll need to identify which folder they're in first. You wouldn't be able to remove them from your account without removing the entire shared folder.

If you were to remove them from the shared folder, they would be deleted for everyone. Instead, you'll want to contact the owner of the files and ask them to move the files out of the shared folder.

Thanks Lusll.  I was able to chat wtih William at Dropbox who was very helpful.  It appears that the person who uploaded the info to a shared file may have mistakenly uploaded files.  I am contacting the moderator.  Thanks for the link.  What Rich wrote below was pretty much what William advised me.  Thanks to you both.  very helpful.

Thanks Rich.  I chatted with William at Dropbox who provided me pretty much the same info as you did.  The warning on not removing from the shared file was very helpful - do not want to tick-off teh moderator and the rest of the participants.
