Apps and Installations

Users on Mac OS Mojave are experiencing an issue with Dropbox, their computers have become extremely slow. It works fine when Dropbox is not running.
When Dropbox app is relaunched, it takes about 30 minutes then it tries to sync files and that never stops.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Does anyone know how we fix this?
The solution is in my post three messages above this one.
you are a wonderful thank you! i am not that tech savy but I would rather learn how to do something myself so thanks again... I can function!!!
For the non-tech-savvy, an easy way to get to the ~/.Dropbox folder is to use the Finder Go menu and click Go to Folder, and enter (very carefully):
~/.Dropbox
A window will open with the contents of the folder. Delete them all. (AFTER you have quit Dropbox and deleted it, and renamed or deleted or moved your Dropbox folder.)
i dont know how i did it but moved the old folder and then delinked, deleted app and reinstalled told me that folder was missing do I want to download and sync and it is doing that right now... thanks for your help was so frustrating, these updates with Mac are challenging I now have lost my Xee to view pics and so many apps are slow or I am battling with this latest upgrade. really appreciate your help all the best
me too. I have spent months trying to keep my passwords and my system is way slow. on mac pro the drop box went away. on imac its still there. it doesnt even remember its own password. I am told by Apple Support --do this, do that. then again lost passwords , way slow, they dont support other platforms--I can't even figure how to move my account to icloud and drop dropbox without losing files. google mail also gone rogue since mojave.
any ideas?
Apparently my problem was not with Mojave or its ability to work with dropbox. After having a specialist analyze my iMac, I found that the problem was my hard drive that was slowly failing. It must have coincidental with the installation of Mojave. Subesquently, I switched to a solid state drive and everything is working fine, compatibly and fast.
I am. I have an old macair running high sierra. Boom -really quick. I don't synchronise all the files on that.
My i-mac -late 2015 tear-your-hair-out- slow! Awful!!!
Thank you so much for your tips firstlooks, I followed these and it worked for me. I am using latest version of Mojave on MacBook Pro 2018.
Anyone else have this issue its well worth trying this method!
THANK YOU, firstlooks!
Your instructions finally worked, whereas everything else had failed. More detailed instructions for deleting the hidden folder can be found here:
I have Dropbox and Mojave installed on 3 computers - iMac 2013, MacBook Pro 2014 and MacBook Air 2013 and I haven't had any problem with DropBox and Mac OS Mojave on either one of them.
