Cannot select folders to Sync after cleaning up my Dropbox

I cleand up my Dropbox synced folders by [1] Unselecting all folders to be synced & then cleaning & [2] Removing all folders & files listed on (because I noticed Dropbox had been saving old & irrelevant data from an old computer & wanted a fresh sync setup)
Now in the app (on a Mac) when I "Choose folders to sync" the popup displays no files or folders & "Select all" is permenantly checked. 
I've tried the following:
[1] Complete uninstall/reinstall (numerous times)
[2] Unlinking the account with a complete uninstall/reinstall
[3] Leaving the popup to select folders overnight, to see if it will take a while to populate with a list of files/folders to select

Any help much appreciated

Hey @awd, I’m also very much in favor of good housekeeping practices & I fully support your idea to start anew! 
Now, based on your description, it looks like your Selective Sync settings wouldn’t stick, so your troubleshooting has been spot on so far. Moving forward, I’d recommend running an advanced reinstall as the best next step, that will wipe all established permissions.
