Inviting computers rather than users

New member | Level 2

I'm getting ready to create a business account for one of my clinets. There are three to five users (people) on each computer (working shifts). It doesn't make sense to invite each person to the DropBox account. I need to find a way to invite the computer, rather than the users.

Would it be okay to create a new email address called (for example) PC1@domain.com and have it accepting the invitation on each user account on each computer? I will be accepting the invitations setting up the accounts, so i will be able to accept the invitation using that email on each user's account). Users don't need to know the password anyhow. They just should be able to share the certain folder the clinet wants them all to see and work in.

Thank you.

Hi @ronaz

Yes, in theory that would work - it isnt recommended but it would work.

The reason it isnt recommended is that every person with access to the account / password is classed as an owner (i.e. can do anything to it), but, if users are not going to have that info the issue is less of a worry.

The only other things to consider is that when they (if they) send things like shared folders/links to people they will go out from the email you set up and with that name (i.e. Computer 1) and when they do things within the account thats how events logging will track it and tag them.

If you can overcome the above then give it a try slightly smiling face

Thank you very much for your comment.

My plan is not to allow access of pc1@domain.com to anything other than specific folders as in File Manager format. No one goes beyond that action and no one is going to share anything with anyone else.
