Moving your dropbox to a new device

Level 2

I have Dropbox on 3 devices, iPhone, Desktop & Laptop (both W10)

The laptop bricked so a new SSD & has been installed. I've added Dropbox to the 'new' laptop by signing in to my account & everything is syncing OK. However there is a difference in appearance & the way Dropbox works on the 'new' laptop.

Folders look the same but individual files are shown under 3 headings - Name, Size & Date Changed. If you hover the mouse over a file you get a 'Share' box (which enables an email link to be sent) or a 3 dot menu which gives you a number of options including 'open with'. This takes you via an app list to eventually open your file in protected mode from where you have to enable editing. If you then save & close the file it updates but you have to go through the same rigmarole to open it again.

On my other devices clicking on a file will open it immediately.

Any advice would be most welcome!

Sounds like you have accidentally installed the mobile version from the app store rather than the 'full' version from www.dropbox.com/downloading slightly smiling face

Spot on! Thanks.

There is also the problem downloading from the Windows Store where it appears to be for Windows 1o S only.

Dropbox website download only!!
