Office 365 subscription

Hello,

Today for some reason, Dropbox has decided I need a Commercial Office 365 subscription.  I have Microsoft Office on my Macbook and have always used Dropbox with no issues but now I'm unable to open & edit word documents in Dropbox - I'm only able to view documents and/or download.  I can still open & edit excel documents so it makes no sense to me.

Can anyone help me please?

Hi there, this would occur if you joined or upgraded your account to a Dropbox Business team.
 
Using Office Online is free for personal accounts, Basic, Plus and Professional. Once you’re on a Dropbox Business team, you’ll need a license to edit files.
 
Regarding the Excel files, it’s possible the license might only allow Excel files to be edited, but not Word files. I’d recommend checking with your team admin for more information on this matter.

I have the same problem, but I have a Basic Account and Exel will only works with 365 Account. What the hell is this. So its not pssible to do anything with exel or word files.

Please help or is the cooperation between dropbox and microsoft history?

Hello,

Today for some reason, Dropbox has decided I need a Commercial Office 365 subscription.  I have Microsoft Office on my ipad  and have always used Dropbox with no issues but now I'm unable to open & edit word and exel documents in Dropbox - I'm only able to view documents and/or download.  I can still open & edit excel documents so it makes no sense to me. I have a normal Basic account.

Can anyone help me please or is the cooperation between Dropbox and Microsoft history?

What size display on your iPad? In addition to the license requirement for Business accounts, Microsoft also requires a license if you're using a tablet larger than 10".

Its a normal iPad Air and this has no display larger than 10".

What can I do?

Hey @Raudie, can we get a screenshot of the options you see when trying to open an Office file in your iPad? Also please let us know what version of Dropbox do you have installed there. Thank you!

i delete exel and dropbox from the iPad and installed both apps again - it works slightly smiling face))
