Synchronizing issue "Your account can't be updated to leave the shared workspace"

Hello all

I've Dropbox plus account (2 TB) , facing issue with file synchornization on my system . I getting error as " can't sync dropbox account " below YOUR account can't be updated to leave the shared workspace . I'll attach a screenshot of this error. I'll be happy with your suggestions

Thank you for the screenshots and welcome to our Community! grinning face with smiling eyes

This issue occurs when Dropbox tries to sync back from a team format to personal. No worries. Just  refresh the configuration settings of the app to help it sync the changes. Unlink and Relink as we say. winking face 

1) Right-click the Dropbox icon in the system tray, or menu bar, by the clock.
2) Click on your profile picture or initials to the right of the search bar, and select "Preferences".
3) Select the Account tab.
4) Click the "Unlink" button in the Account tab.
5) Your Dropbox will then prompt you to re-enter your account information.

Let me know if this solved your issue. I'd be happy to troubleshoot more with you if it's not solved.

Hey @Fiona

The dropbox icon on system tray is greyout , where I cannot able to right click and move to preferences . When I click the dropbox icon I just getting the above error as pop up.

In this case, just reinstall Dropbox. It will have the same affect with unlinking and relinking. 

Please find the steps to uninstall here. 

This should fix it. I'll be here to help if the issue persists. nerd face

Yes tried reinstalling and Installing it again but after 2-3 days the error occurs and interrupts file synchronization . 
Also tried Advanced uninstallation by clearing the dropbox files in %LOCALAPPDATA% , %PROGRAMFILES% , %APPDATA% and downloaded the new version of dropbox , still the same error occurs 

Is it related with Dropbox master account shared workspace ???

Let's try an advanced reinstall. This process deletes all the traces of the application locally and syncs everything again fresh from the web.

Hello @Fiona 

Yeah tried Advanced Uninstalling too, initially after the advanced uninstalling the dropbox is linked but after sometime ( say 3 hrs ) automatically getting the same pop up error.

 

Is this issue related with shared workspace or third party apps using the path???

Sorry to hear this step did not solve the issue.

The error indeed reports that the shared workspace can't sync because the files are used by other applications locally. However when you perform and advanced reinstall. Any "connection" your local files might have had is wiped. You start fesh. thinking face You should not get the same error. 

At this point, the Advanced reinstall is unfortunately the last step we can take via Community together for this error. I will need to look into further, having account specific information, to troubleshoot. 

Can I use the email associated with your Community profile to further look into this with you?
