Trying to move my Dropbox folder from C drive to F drive

New member | Level 2

I have attempted to change the Dropbox folder location from my C drive to my F drive. So, I was able to get the files to the F drive (it is an internal drive), however, the process isn't removing the files from the C drive. In the Prefereneces > Sync tab the Folder locations still shows on the C drive. What am I doing wrong? What is the solution?

Did you move the files manually, or did you actually use the Move function in Dropbox Preferences?

Super User

You need to move the Dropbox folder using the Dropbox preference:

  1. Click the Dropbox icon in the system tray or menu bar.
  2. Click Preferences (Linux), or the gear icon (macOS and Windows)
  3. Click Sync (on macOS you’ll first need to click Preferences…).
  4. Click Move… (Linux and Windows), or Dropbox location (macOS).
  5. Select the new location for your Dropbox folder.
  6. Let Dropbox move your folder and its contents to the new location.
