Is it possible to xref a .DWG file (CAD ) while this same file is located on a shared folder in Dropbox?

In that case, you could try syncing the files locally on your computer, but you'll need to make sure that every member of the shared folder is using the exact same path for the files in their Dropbox folder since if the Dropbox folder is located under User (your OS profile) then the links will need to be reconnected each time a different user in the folder tries to do the same.

Otherwise, you're going to have to continue with downloading the files from the web so you don't need to keep relinking the xrefs.

I hope this helps @Joseph Mifsud

Hey @Joseph Mifsud, thanks for posting on our Community!

Your query kind of echoes this discussion, but could you clarify how exactly you'd be doing this and if you're referring to the exact same file or a copy of the file you've stored in your Dropbox folder (be it in a shared folder or not)?

Thanks!

Hi Walter,

My query is this...

An architecture firm shared a Dropbox folder with me, in which there are various plans in .DWG. Is it possible, for me, to access these shared plans as an Xref from my CAD station via Dropbox? Instead of downloading and reattaching the plans each time there is a new amendment.

By the way, I read the discussion you suggested but somehow I didn't understand if we had a common issue.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Actually I managed...thanks Walter. I was missing one crucial step....I didn't install the Dropbox App.

Thanks a lot for your support nevertheless.
