Dropbox Paper is not displaying PDF image content when I check online.

Dropbox Paper is not displaying PDF image content when I check online.

We use Dropbox Paper to comment on files and keep all comments in one place. However, when uploading files for our last project, all of a sudden we cannot comment on the file outside of the thumbnail view because the full screen image doesn't appear. It's just a blank screen.

This is happening when we link multipage PDFs directly from Dropbox and when we drag and drop single page PDFs from the desktop. Happening on multiple computers and different browsers. We can however open up the files on mobile devices. That's nice, but the images are too small to use for analyzing and commenting.

Anyone have a solution for this problem? Thanks!

Hi @Lboegen, thanks for posting here!

Does this happen only when you attach PDFs to your Paper document? Also, do you notice this behavior on a specific document, or all of them?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

It is only happening with PDFs when they are uploaded directly or linked from Dropbox. (Doesn't happen with jpgs or docx docs.) And, I double checked, it is happening in all documents. I started a fresh test document to test – this also means that it was happening with a document started in my account as well as one started in a colleague's account. Thank you Megan!

Hey @Lboegen, would you mind sending us a screenshot of how it looks now on your end?

Sure – this is a screenshot of PDFs directly uploaded (not linked from Dropbox), but it's the same in both instances.

1. What the page looks like

And what it looks like when I click on one of the PDFs to open it larger.

Hi @Lboegen, how large the PDF files in question in terms of MB?

The individual files are as small as 50KB, but as large as 20MB. Average about 10MB.  The multipage files when linked from Dropbox are 1.5MB to 30MB.

Hi @Lboegen, it might sound trivial, but can you try switching to a different browser, or using an incognito mode on your current one, to see if the results there are the same?

Yes. Other file types seem to be fine. And yes, all documents.

Just to confirm, did you try it on a different browser, and got the same results there @Lboegen?
