Hey there (@RSB1), if I’m understanding correctly, it seems that you’re enquiring about how you could go about signing out of your account online, am I right on my assumption?

If so, then you could do so by clicking on the smiley icon on the top-right hand corner of your browsing window & then clicking on the Sign-out option. If you’re signed in automatically when you revisit our website, kindly bear in mind that this could be attributed to a browser setting that you could change on your end (meaning that this functionality fills out forms automatically with saved info, like your addresses or payment details).

Hopefully this points you towards the right direction & please do let me know my advice works for you or if you have further questions about any of the above. Enjoy the rest of your day until we talk again!

Thanks for your prompt reply.  There is no smiley face on the upper right corner, a small circle looking cloudy appears there, i remember this smiley face but it no longer appears there.  I went into internet options and unchecked save passwords and then deleted browsing history and it did not work.  It is really puzzling as to where that smiley face diappeared and why i cannot log out.  Need more help on this.

Thanks

Ron

Thanks for your speedy reply Ron (@RSB1)! As I’d like to ensure I’m following-up with you correctly, could you include a screenshot (omitting personal info) of your current view, so as to better determine what's happening?

Any other detail you could include on this discussion would be very helpful, so as to try & re-create the behavior on my end & see the results I’m getting. I’ll be awaiting your next message here Ron!

Re: Cannot log out windows 10

Thanks to Sergant44 and Jane.  I got around it.  Let me explain how so it can be of use to lots of people.  First of all I used Internet Explorer to log in,  that smiley face disappeared two weeks ago and instead a circular icon started appearing, sometimes it would be oval shaped with some clouds.  Clicking on it took me nowhere, something would flash and then disappear in a fraction of a second so could not see what it was.  I think it was log out thing but could not see and read it as it disappeared very fast.

Then I followed Jane's instructions and unchecked  save password and form data in internet options.  But still it did not work so i called a friend who said since my computer has Edge installed which is going to be new internet explorer I should uncheck same things there as well which i did but still i could not log out.

In the meantime i logged in through Google Chrome and I had to put my user id and password which means i was not logged in, I logged in through Google Chrome and logged out and then went back to Dropbox throught IE and I was aready logged in!!!!!!

Anyway, after having unchcked save passwords in both IE and Edge, i went into Dropbox again, of course, it took me there without username and password but i clicked on that round icon very fast, multiple times  in quick successions and log out appeared and I logged out.  I logged in back thru IE  and it prompted me to put in my user id and password but again to log out I had to click multiple times for log out to appear and i did log out.  Next time I may not be that lucky so i have decided to use Google Chrome only for Dropbox log in.

Drop box should address this issue immediately.  This issue poses security risks,  people store confidential documents in Dropbox.

Thanks for looping back to me to keep me updated on the progress Ron (@RSB1)- that’s much appreciated! For starters, I was glad to hear that you managed to narrow-down that the issue pertains to your browser & I’ll do my best to address your follow-up security 🔐concern.

That said, it would be worth noting that dropbox.com works best on the two most recent versions of the Internet Explorer 11 & Microsoft Edge browsers 🌏. Can you check if there are any missing updates that could have triggered this behavior? As an additional step, would you mind clearing your browser's cache & see if this does the trick for you in regards to the auto-fill forms?

Last but not least, you could visit your Security page where your account settings are stored & unlink the web session that’s been troubling you from there. Have you considered turning on two-step verification incidentally?

Hopefully my post & tips address your concern however I’m always at your disposal if you have any follow-up questions. Thanks again for sticking with me on our discussion here!

Enabling 2FA was definitely a great first step to tackle that Ron (@RSB1); please take your time to try the rest of my suggestions & keep me posted on the outcome whenever you get a chance!
