Disconnecting/unlinking work and personal accounts

Hi,

I recently linked my actual work account with my buisness account which I already had so I coujld easily access the two accounts. I added my work account as a personal account on Dropbox so I could view them both easily. 

However when I did this Dropbox refunded my work and started e-mailing me on all the emails instead of my bosses.

I now want to unlink the personal account I created and have it go back to being it's own indpendent buisness account and keeping my buinsess account seperate.

How do I do this? And also I want to make sure all files are kept intact.

Thanks for pinging me back on our discussion here Cassie (@Cassie4)! While I can’t mention your email address here for security reasons, it would be worth noting that I can only see the email address connected to your Community profile. 
 
If you haven’t received my message in your inbox, I’d recommend checking on your spam folder as a first step. You can also log in to our support system by visiting dropbox.zendesk.com with the same email address you’re using on your Community profile, so as to check the interaction. You‘ll need to create a password there, as it is separate from your Dropbox account. 
 
If you’re still having an issue locating my email, please let me know here. Thanks again for keeping in touch with me on this matter & for your ongoing cooperation!

Hi Jane,

Thank you so much for getting back to me on this.

I haven't recieved any e-mail, however it could be going to my work e-mail address which only my bosses have access to. I have asked them to forward me any e-mails they receive from Dropbox but I ma yet to recieve any.

However is it possible to just sort this out over this chat.

All I really need to know is that if I disonnect the work dropbox (which is now my personal account) will it automatically go back into being a business account, or do I need to do this manually? 

And my main concern is will anything happen to the files in this dropbox account (the work account).

Really looking forward to hearing from you and thank you for all your assistance so far, really appreciate it.

Thanks for circling back to me here Cassie (@Cassie4), I’ll try to address your concerns here, as it seems that you’re not receiving my responses on your inbox. While I can’t chat to you on my end, I’ll do my best to send you the relevant steps via this discussion. 
 
For starters, would you mind following a few simple steps for me? As you’re signed in in the Community, navigate on the top-left hand corner & click on the Dropbox icon there. This should re-direct you to the Dropbox account connected to your Community profile. From there, navigate on the smiley-face➡️Click there once & click on Settings. Under the “Name” field, you should see your email address. Are you checking this inbox Cassie? Also, have you by any chance checked on zendesk for my last message? 
 
From there, please keep in mind that in order to disconnect your accounts, you’d have to navigate to your account settings by visiting https://www.dropbox.com/account or you can also access this page by doing the following:

#2. Click on your name in the top right corner.
#3. Click Settings➡️Under "Connected Dropboxes" you will see an option to disconnect your personal and work Dropboxes.
If you disconnect your paired accounts then the account that was linked to your devices second will be automatically unlinked.
 
Now, in order to determine what’s the best option moving forward, can you please clarify whether your team account is on a Dropbox for Business plan or you’re currently a member of a Free team? Are you a member or an admin on this team Cassie? Can you check if you can see the option to leave the team as illustrated here
 
Please do let me know of these details, in order to guide you towards the best next steps. Thanks again for sticking with me under this conversation!

Hi Jane,

Thank you so much for getting back to me on all of this.

I have followed the steps above and the e-mail address is the one I thought it was which is my work address. I have asked my bosses to check this inbox however they have not recieved any e-mails. I will check again however I asked them to forward anything that came through from Dropbox.

Further to the above the work account (which is now my personal account) was a "Dropobox Pro Subscription", however once I linked the account to my account as a personal account as I already had a buinsess acocunt, Dropbox refunded us for this subscription. I have attached a screenshot of the e-mail we recieved from Dropbox.

However now I want to change this personal account back to a Dropbox Pro Subscription and keep it as a seperate account to mine.

It is not a team account, it's just a one e-mail account which we can access and share files.

Now if I unlink the personal account from my account what will happen? Will the account automatically go back into a Dropbox Pro Subscription? And my main concern is that all the files stay intact.

Really looking forward to hearing from you and getting this all finalised.

Hey again @Cassie4, I’m pinging you back here, as I’ve consulted a team specialist on the issue you’re currently facing; let’s take it from where we had left off. 
 
Now Cassie because your last inquiry pertains to account-related information that I can’t access here for security reasons, we’d still need to proceed checking back on the information I have on file for your account, so as to further advise. 
 
As you mentioned in your last post here that you can’t access the email address connected to your Forum profile directly, I’d suggest starting off from there changing the email address to an email address you can access. In order to do so, I’d need you to navigate on the top-left hand corner as you’re seeing this window & click on the Dropbox icon there. This should re-direct you to the Dropbox account connected to your Community profile. From there, navigate on the smiley-face ➡️ click there once & click on Settings. Under the “email” field, you should see the “Edit” option that’ll let you change your email address
 
Alternatively, I’d recommend raising a ticket with our team here from an email address you can access. Once you write us, please include your ticket# in your next post here, so that  I make sure to get on it as soon as possible.
