Drop box took my money although I cancelled

Dropbox is misleading people and illegally taking their money with this monthly trial trick. 

I signed up for a monthly trial early december and cancelled a few 

days afterwards, through my dropbox account.

Even so, 738.00 euros was taken from my credit card. 

Dropbox denied getting my cancellation. 

It's easy to conceal my cancellation because it's  through my account. 

Apart from giving the people the impression of a monthly fee, which a subscriber might have some chance of cutting off , they just took a whole year's fee. 

I feel very aggrieved by this thievery and I intend to spend my time 

alerting others on the internet to it. 

I run a business too, and if a client is dissatisified or unwilling, I just give them back their money.

You didn't sign up for a monthly trial. You signed up for a 30-day Dropbox for Business trial which, by default, is a one-year subscription. The trial gives you the first 30 days free. If you do not cancel before the 30 days is up, then it reverts to a paid subscription automatically. If you did not choose the monthly billing option while registering your account, then you're charged the yearly rate. Since that seems to be what happened here, you likely left it set to the default Yearly option.

 

There was nothing misleading or illegal about this. The terms of the trial are clearly laid out on the very pages that you sign up on.

 

If you feel this is in error you can contact Support. While they are certainly not obligated to provide a refund, they have been known to do so under certain circumstances. You can also contact your bank, though if Dropbox is able to show that the account was not charged in error, and they usually can, your bank will not likely accept your claim.

Replies take approximately 1 - 3 business days with Pro users getting priority (longer for Basic users).
