All folders empty after moving to Dropbox

Last night I moved a folder from my laptop to dropbox as the laptop was going in for maintenance; in morning I realised that although the main folder and subfolders all show up, there are hardly any files in them..however they are also no longer on my local drive of the laptop

Tried reinstalling Dropbox on a PC and also viewing from my phone but result is the same..empty subfolders.

Any advice on how to retrieve the files?

Thanks

Re: All folders empty after moving to Dropbox

Hey there @GDK01 - let's take a look into this.

First of all, could you take a look at the Dropbox icon in your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac) and see if it is done syncing the changes you made overnight?

When Dropbox is fully synced then you should see a tick followed by the words “Up to date” on the m.... If you do not see this then can you please let me know what the message being displayed reads?

Also note that if any of your files got accidentally deleted, you should be able to restore them from your events page.

In any case, please keep me posted on your findings.

Re: All folders empty after moving to Dropbox

Dear Walter,

Thanks for the response, much apprecatiated. Seems something had gone wrong with either the sync or copy to dropbox but now the laptop has been returned and brought back online the files have appeared again in the local Dropbox folder and afterwards on the other devices.

Regards.
