Re: Sync to SD card

I had the same issue with a HP Stream 7 tablet which has a 32GB eMMC storage device. I added a SanDisk 64GB micro SD card and could not transfer Dropbox files and folders to the SD card. Research found a solution and I have successfully transferred the Dropbox data to the SD card. Here is the url that provides all the necessary information.

Hope this helps.

Re: Sync to SD card

I tried the other mounting of the card with a link through disk management and it didn't work at all. Thanks for this tip. I've been trying to get this to work for MONTHS!

Just a few notes that might be helpful

The syntax in cmd that worked for me on the surface pro was mklink C:\Users\name\Dropbox X:\Dropbox

with this syntax mklink /X C:\Users\name\Dropbox X:\Dropbox it kept telling me that X was an invalid switch so I just removed the /x and it worked like a charm.

When I started Dropbox again it said it lost the link to the dropbox folder and needed to relink. I just left the folder as I originally used in setup C:\Users\name\Dropbox and it picked up the link just fine and everything is now syncing to the X:\Dropbox card folder set up with the link.

As I set up Dropbox, I picked a very small folder through selective sync to make sure everything was working correctly. In the past I tried setting dropbox up before with other techniques and it started deleting my files on the cloud! So far so good this time around. It will save your files for at least 30 days, so check on it occassionally to make sure you aren't deleting anything you don't want deleted.

You can't. Dropbox does not support external, networked or removable drives.

Re: Sync to SD card

You could use Selective Sync to remove some rarely used folders from your local so they don't sync. They will remain in the cloud and be accessible using the web interface.

I am having the same issue. I can't believe my only option is to selective sync and if that doesn't work do what? Buy a new computer?!

Re: Sync to SD card

I have the same problem. I have a business laptop. Apart from running out of space on the hard drive I have personal files including NFP organisations that I am involved with. The obvious solution is to sync business folders to the hard drive and personal folders to the SD - suggest that Dropbox changes its protocol on this.

I in the process of buying a new laptop because I have now run out of space on the HD even though I have 60G free on the SD card.  I  could transfer some operating files on to the SD card but that would  probably lead to problems.

Re: Sync to SD card

These are my files. I should have capability to transfer and download to any device of my choosing...

Re: Sync to SD card

I have the same issue.  I LOVE my Surface Pro3 but it only has a 256gb limit.  I thought that would not be an issue because of Dropbox.  Now it is my Dropbox folder that is causing my problems with space and the logical solution of a Micro SD card (the ONLY option on the Surface) is not an option.  There must be a better way.  Come on Dropbox, allow removable syncing!  Please.
