My account seems to be out of space. How can I verify this?

Level 2

So I need a drop box if I don't go online on my cell. I've had my smart phone for about 5 yrs, and only use it as a phone.  My pc is used for everything online, recently when I my pc has been saying I need a drop box, I don't understand why, since I've only used my gmail like I use yahoo, as a way to talk to my sister on her cell, while I'm on my pc.

I should not have to pay for an email account, I've never been asked to buy more space on my yahoo mail account, and I've sent and received photos on there.  This is just another way for a big company to get money from people who live on a very low income.  How can I see what's in my full drop box that keeps showing up when I log into my pc, even shows across my screen when I'm on yahoo.

Thanks to anyone who can help

Re: drop box

Dropboxer

Hey there @brendaplank1951  - how are you today?

First and foremost, our service (Dropbox) is not to be confused with any email service provider. Dropbox is mostly a syncing tool which allows you to share files with friends, family and colleagues and you can find more about it below:

https://www.dropbox.com/features

When it comes to your concern now, as I understand that you're getting prompts to upgrade for more space, your account must be over or almost over its quota (free accounts on the Basic plan come with 2 GB of space).

To confirm this, you can view your current quota usage on the following page:

https://www.dropbox.com/account/plan

Generally speaking now, when your Dropbox account is over quota then only syncing stops. Nothing will be removed and syncing will resume when you bring your account under quota again.

To get your account under quota you can do any of the following:

  1. Upgrade your account – you can check out www.dropbox.com/plans for other information.
  2. Increase your quota using referrals bonuses or other promotions.
  3. Leave any shared folders that put you over quota.
  4. Move files that don't need to sync out of your Dropbox folder.

I hope this information helps and please let me know what you find Brenda!
