iOS shortcut and folder share link

Hello,

I have created an iOS shortcut to share on Dropbox photos on my iPhone.

Everything is OK, but the last step of my shortcut is to share the Dropbox folder and get the share link.

Is it possible to do it with Shortcuts ?

With which instruction ?

Currently, I can only get each
photo file link and this is not what I want.

Thanks.

Regards

Ben

Hey @BenSurPanam, from what I gather from your description, it looks like you’ve installed our iphone mobile app & you’re sharing your photos with your friends/ colleagues using shared links 🔗 , is that right?

If so, then kindly bear in mind that you should be able to share a view-only link to a folder as well, following the steps outlined in the resource I linked above.

From there, if you wish to share a view-only link to all the items in your Dropbox account, then it would be worth noting that this isn’t currently possible Ben, however I’d happily include your interest in my report internally for future iterations.

Hopefully this addresses your initial inquiry & please do let me know here if you have any additional questions or I’ve misunderstood your query in any way. Thanks!

Re: iOS shortcut and folder share link

Thank you for your quick answer Jane.
I confirm that I use Dropbox app and share folder with link feature.
I only need read-only share.
The need is to share photos in full resolution with friends.
My friends need the link because they don’t have necessarily a Dropbox account.
My question is about the Shortcuts app.
I understand that this feature is currently not supported by the iOS Shortcuts app.
Am I right ?
Thanks.

I appreciate your detailed explanation @BenSurPanam! Kindly bear in mind that I can’t access the third-party app on my end (so as to determine whether this is possible), however I’ll leave this question open to our Community of users; maybe someone could offer their insight on how you’d best go about on this request.

Thanks for choosing Dropbox & taking the time to drop us a line on the Community. We’re always here for more Dropbox tips & tricks, so feel free to post us again at any time in the future & it’ll be a pleasure to address any further inquiries you may have!

Re: iOS shortcut and folder share link

Thank you Jane.
I thought that Dropbox was the provider of services/functions that can be used in the Shortcuts app.
So, my question was for Dropbox : if there is no function to enable folder share and get folder share link, there is no chance to have it possible in Shortcuts app.
Thanks.

It would be worth noting that the Shortcuts app isn’t managed by Dropbox Ben; it’s managed by apple at the moment. For that reason, if you wish to automate your workflow including our application, you can defer to their resources instead on how you could go about on this matter.

Nevertheless, I’m always here if you need further assistance; feel free to ping us here again if you have any Dropbox-related questions & I’ll make sure to get back in touch with you soon. Have a wonderful weekend ahead in the meantime!

Re: iOS shortcut and folder share link

Wondering what mobile app you are using?  In IOS you can generate a Cloudlink if you use ICloud in addition to Dropbox.
