When I log on to dropbox with my Personal email address, and I go to https://www.dropbox.com/account/plan, it shows
Current Plan
Dropbox Basic
2 GB of cloud storage
Personal Dropbox space
Using 187 GB of 2 TB
I have a Dropbox folder on my work computer which I access using Windows Explorer. It has 187 GB of files in it.
My goal is to get about 182 GB of personal files OFF my WORK computer and move them only to my Dropbox account, and mirror them on my new PERSONAL computer. (The other 5 GB of files are work files that can stay on the work computer.)
Question 1: How can I have only 2GB of cloud storage, and yet I have 187 GB of files in my Dropbox account?
I do also have a second Dropbox account that was created using my work email address.
I know that account has 2 TB of storage, and I am only using 111KB on that account, just a single file is there.
But it's a personal account, and since I paid for it, I'd like to use it for my personal files.
(I didn't know I had that second Dropbox account until this evening.)
My goal is to not lose any files.
Question 2: How can I consolidate down to only ONE Dropbox account that is associated with my personal email address, and only have my 182 GB of personal files in that dropbox account?
To further add to my confusion:
If I log on with my personal email address and click on my avatar, it says there "Your account has 2 TB storage". And I can see my 187 GB of files in the file navigator at the left.
But if I visit https://www.dropbox.com/account/general it says that I have Dropbox Basic with 2 GB cloud storage.
Also, across the main menu, I see only General Plan Security Notifications Connected apps Default apps Branding Refer a friend.
There is NO BILLING link in the menu, so I cannot see any billing or payment history.
If I log on with my work email address and click on my avatar, it also says there "Your account has 2 TB storage". But if I visit https://www.dropbox.com/account/plan it says that I have Dropbox Plus with 2 TB storage, and shows I am using 484KB of that.
Hey @JohnFoxW, thanks for posting to our Community today.
Do you know if your personal account was ever paired/linked with your work account? And did that account used to be on a free team?
But basically, if you want to merge one account with another one, you can share your files using a shared folder.
You can see more info about moving files between accounts here.
Let me know if you have any questions.
