I am so, so sick of companies taking money for poorly integrated services with no support, explanation or useful steps to resolve issues.  I accepted a link to a team folder now I am not the admin of my own account!!!  How is this useful for anything other than turning customers away form dropbox.  I just want this resolved so I can delete dropbox and never have to use this garbage program again.   I have no choice but to ask here or wait 72 hours for maybe a reply?

You weren't invited to a simple shared folder. You were invited to and joined their Business account. When doing so, you merged your account into their team account, effectively making them the owner of your account. Prior to that you were given a choice to join the team and merge your account, or to move your personal files to a new account, separate from the team, and join the team with your now empty existing account. It sounds like you chose to merge your existing account and files into the  team.

In order to leave the team, the team admin needs to convert your account back to an individual account. It's important that they don't just remove you from the team as doing so would delete your account. If that were to happen, the team admin only has seven days to restore your account. Also, only the team admin can get this done for you. Dropbox can't do it.
