Hi

I am currently doing some work for a not for profit organisation, when i started a couple of months ago i was using my personal account and when that reached the max 2GB I asked the organisation about a team account. They did say that they do have a paid account. I was 'invited' by one of the admins and when I logged into the invite I ended up with similar situation with only 2GB.

Before i go back to the admin person and show my ignorance, should there be some of special credentials that need to be used to login or should my own email and password get me to the paid team account. Is there a way of seeing if I am logged into a team account?

As you can guess I am a newbie to Dropbox. Hope someone can direct me in the right direction. Thanks

Hi @DebraV, it's indeed a shared folder that they invited you to join.

In addition, it sounds like they use an individual account, not a Business one. Keep in mind, that when sharing a folder, both the recipient and the sender need enough space on their account, in order to add the folder there.

If you just wish to download, and view the content you can ask them to share a link with you instead.

I hope this clarifies!

Hi @DebraV, let's jump right into this!

Is it possible that you were invited to the shared folder, instead of a Business team? Are you certain they have a Dropbox Business plan, and not an individual one?

When invited to a Dropbox Business Team, you should be asked if you want to join the team with your existing account and merge your content there, or if you wish to create a new account.

You can also check your plan page, and see what it reports.

Keep me posted!

Hi Megan

I checked it and it only says 'basic' subscription so looks like they haven't invited me correctly?

Hi Megan,

Just went to have a look at the invite I got...does this sound like its just a sharing situation not a 'Team' account? The person has said about a paid account with 2TB of storage. (x's replaces text for confidentiality.)

"Cxxxx Lxxx (cxxxx@xxxxxxx.com.au) invited you to edit the folder "XXX xxxxx and Xxxx Cxxx" on Dropbox."

Thanks

Debbie
