I have been paying for extra storage for years, and just paid again a month ago. Signed in today to find I have the basic plan and no files are all. Can't access support because my subscription package not recognised. Chatbox useless and community support has not been helpful. What am I supposed to do next?

Do you happen to have another Dropbox account perhaps, associated with a different email address of yours?
Also, can you clarify if you had upgraded your account via the website or if it was through the app store on a mobile device?
