Hi,

I let my plan managed by itunes store expire (as suggested by dropbox customers support via chat) because I wanted to upgrsde to a family plan directly on dropbox website.

I get the infamous message "your plan is managed externally", how do I fix this? Please help, this is frustrating!

How long ago did it expire? And has your plan downgraded yet? 

 

Both need to have happened to allow it to be picked up via website

Hi Mark,

thank you for your answer.

My plus plan, wich i've paid for the last 8 years expired two days ago.

Before letting it expires, I made some research and I found some users reporting this issue.

So I contacted two times (!) dropbox via chat and I was assured I'd be able to re-upgrade next day.

I've received a mail wich says that I probably will be downgraded next month and is a lot of time!

Luckily I backupped everything, maybe It's time to migrate to a better managed platform. I think It's incredible that customer support cannot answer correctly to this problem, not to mention the fact that the problem shoud be solved somehow!

I don't want to be rude, but truth is truth, this is my last chat support, enjoy:

( 09:34:52 ) Andrea: Once you cancel your Plus subscription on iTunes, as you mentioned on the renewal date your account will downgrade to a free Basic account.
( 09:35:09 ) Andrea: Please note that no files will be deleted; however, if you are using more storage space than allowed on a Basic plan, file syncing will be paused until you choose to upgrade.
( 09:35:37 ) Andrea: Then you can upgrade your account to the Family subscription from your Plan tab.
( 09:35:53 ) Andrea: Or I could also send you the plan pages.
( 09:37:09 ) Visitor: So if my current plan expire on 17, shall I be able on 18 to make the new subscription?
( 09:37:38 ) Visitor: I don't want to be locked out with syncing
( 09:38:07 ) Andrea: Yes, exactly, your account on the renewal date will be downgraded and you can immediately upgrade your account.

Still waiting, stucked without syncing, still don't know when my plan shall be downgraded and if I'll be able to re-upgrade immediatly after the downgrade.

I'm also receiving many mails from dropbox requesting to upgrade payment informations. I don't understand why considering that I actively terminated the automatic renewal on itunes store but my payment information stored are still valid.

I'm considering a migration to google drive family,  does anyone have experience?
